Why I’m Now Sharing Opportunities — Not Just Stories

From the heart of a mother raising a daughter in today’s world.
There are moments in parenting that break you open quietly.
The first time she stopped holding my hand in public.
The first time she stared at a screen more than my face.
The first time I saw her comparing herself to someone else and calling herself “less.”
I’m a mother to a teenage girl. And if you are too — or you remember what it was like to be one — you know how much the world has changed… and how much hasn’t.
Raising a child today feels like raising them on shifting sand.
There’s pressure — everywhere.
There’s noise — endless.
And there’s a kind of loneliness no filter, app, or perfectly edited reel can fix.
Our daughters (and sons) are growing up faster than ever… but without always growing stronger on the inside.
And that’s what made me realize: It’s not enough to just raise awareness. We have to raise access.
💡 The Spark Behind “Opportunities” at Daughters of India
When I first began Daughters of India, it was a storytelling space. A quiet place for girls to see themselves. To feel seen. To feel strong.
But then mothers started writing to me.
Girls started DM’ing me.
Educators, counselors, NGOs — all asking the same thing:
“Do you know of any scholarships?”
“Can you help her apply?”
“Is there a program where she can learn leadership, confidence, coding, writing, speaking, mentoring…?”
And I realized that what they were really saying was:
“We believe she’s capable. But we don’t know how to get her there.”
That’s why we’re now curating and sharing daily, verified, life-changing opportunities — not just for girls, but for all young people who are ready to dream bigger than their zip code.
🎯 What You’ll Find in This New Chapter
✨ Scholarships — for school, college, STEM, arts, international study
✨ Fellowships — for leadership, sustainability, social change
✨ Grants & Competitions — to fund big ideas and small beginnings
✨ Workshops & Internships — because confidence is built by doing
✨ NGO & Government Programs — with real reach and no fine print
Opportunities will be updated daily or weekly.
They’ll be vetted, clear, and (most importantly) accessible — especially for families who don’t always know where to start.
This isn’t just for girls in big cities with polished resumes.
This is for the village girl with fire in her heart and no one to guide her.
For the boy who wants to build, speak, lead, learn — but has no map.
For the parent who says, “I wish someone had told me about this earlier.”
💛 Because Real Girls Don’t Compete. They Carry Each Other.
At Daughters of India, we believe in something simple and powerful:
Real girls support each other.
That means we don’t just clap when one girl gets the prize — we share the link so the next one can try too.
We don’t just say, “She’s so lucky.”
We say, “Here’s how she did it. You can too.”
That’s what this new chapter is about.
Not chasing success.
But creating systems of support.
✨ From One Mother to Another
I still tuck my daughter in when she lets me.
I still leave little notes in her books, and sneak love into her lunchbox.
But now I’m doing something more.
I’m building a space where she — and so many others — can discover what’s possible.
Because one opportunity, shared at the right time, can open a door that changes everything.
Let’s build those doors.
Let’s walk through them together.
Let’s remind our children that their story isn’t limited by where they start.
Their story is just beginning.
